'Introduction to script lettering'- One day course - 15.10.2023

In this course, we will introduce the fundamentals of script lettering with a brush and enamel or 'Japan' paint. From four basic strokes, we will learn how to build an alphabet, layout and space letters, how to give character with 'stroke, slant and swing', appropriate brushes and materials and how to start translating those techniques into other areas like casual lettering and scrolling.
Running from 11-4.30, this course at Lightspace in Meanwood, an event space and photography studio, will introduce you to the fundamentals, provide tips and help overcome 'rooke errors'. It is suitable for beginners to painting, type designers, chalkboard artists or tattooers. It would also be sa good complementary course for people who previously attended 'Introduction to Casual Lettering' and 'Introduction to Signpainting'.
Previous courses have also been a great chance for self employed creatives to meet others and share ideas and practice.
Work will be practical and at standing easels. All materials as well as tea, coffee and snacks will be provided.
